I love playing music that pulls the ear in an unexpected direction – that sensation of hearing something new that evokes a feeling between two emotions, that you can’t quite describe but you know is important and meaningful, even relatable… those are the moments I chase when I perform. Whether I find that in classical, jazz, or old-time country – those are the songs I appreciate the most.
Travis Luckert began guitar lessons at age four in Edmonton, Alberta where he studied with local teacher Dayle Besler until university. In 2020 he graduated from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montréal, completing a Bachelor of Music in Performance under GFA-winning guitarist and teacher Jérôme Ducharme. Travis now lives, works and plays in Vancouver, BC.
Travis has performed extensively in Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal, and the Bow Valley, and played for such guitarists as Pepe Romero, Alvaro Pierri, Manuel Barrueco, Scott Tennant, William Kanengiser, and Marc Teicholz among others. Travis performs on a 2012 Martin Blackwell guitar, and his studies were generously supported by both the Anne Burrows Music Foundation Scholarship and the Winspear Fund Scholarship for Advanced Classical Music.
